Rebuild your CV around one job

Career preparation illustration with a desk, notebook and laptop

Instead of sending one CV everywhere, organise your experience around the questions your target role asks.

Choose your evidence first

Extract three main expectations from the listing. Find a project, decision or outcome for each. Do not add tools you have never used just because they appear in the advert. Separate transferable experience from learning you are still doing.

Move from duties to outcomes

Try writing each bullet as action, scope and result. Use numbers only when you can substantiate them. If you cannot measure a result, explain how the work was used or which problem it solved; do not invent a percentage.

Review through another reader’s eyes

Simplify headings, align dates and open every link. Copy text out of the file to check readability. Follow the employer’s requested file format. Europass is one CV-building option to explore, not a mandatory format for every employer.

Turn reading into an output

  1. Choose one target listing and note three expectations.
  2. Write one evidence statement for each.
  3. Check the file, language and links.

Quick answers

How can I tailor a CV to a job?

Choose three main expectations from the advert, connect each to real experience and bring that evidence forward in your CV. Do not add tools you have not used; check dates, links and the requested file format.

Does every CV outcome need a number?

No. A number is useful only when you can substantiate it. Without a measured outcome, explain what you did, the problem you addressed and how the work was used.
